Types can easily increase or decrease the power of an attack while in battle. Pokemon Types are usually the most obvious choice when choosing Attacks in battle. Night Shade and Seismic Toss will take away HP that is equal to the level of the Pokemon using it. Dragon Rage will always take away 40 HP, no matter what. Examples are Dragon Rage, Night Shade, and Seismic Toss. There are very few unique attacks where Types follow the rules of Immunity (Ground can't hit Flying) however, the Type will not cause any more or less damage than usual (Super Effect / Not Very Effective). The attacks that have a "Yes" under Long are the exceptions. If your Pokemon is set up in position 1 (refer to table below), most attacks will not to be able to hit opposing Pokemon set up in position C (same goes for 3 and A). Long Range Attack: This stat should only be taken into account when in 3 on 3 battles.Your Side - The move is used on all Pokemon on your team, in battle only.Your Party - The move is used on all Pokemon on your team, in battle or in their Poke Balls.Varies - The move can randomly hit anyone.Self, Ally - The move is used on the user and one Pokemon on your team.Other Side - The move only affects the Pokemon on the opposing team.If the move is also a long range move, it can hit any target in a triple battle from any position. If the user is at 2, it will hit A, B, and C. If the user is at 1, it will hit A and B. Many Others - The move hits multiple Pokemon on the opponent's team. Both Sides - The move hits all Pokemon on your team and the other team (A-C and 1-3). If the Pokemon is at 2, it will hit all Pokemon in the battle. If the Pokemon is at 1, it will hit A, B, and 2. Adjacent - The move hits all Pokemon around the user.1 Ally - The Move is used on one of your team's Pokemon (1, 2, or 3).Range: The Range of the move when used in multi-battles.For example: the Static ability may cause Paralysis when a Pokemon makes direct contact with the Static Pokemon. This is relevant when fighting certain Pokemon with certain Abilities. Despite common belief, not all Physical Attacks have direct contact. Direct Contact: Some moves will attack a Pokemon directly, and some won't.Category: The category the move falls into.If the move never fails or is a Status Move, you'll see N/A. 20 PP means you can use the move 20 times. Basically, this is the amount of times a move can be used. This is not the amount of HP that will be taken off! Summary: A quick summary of the attack above the info table.Although, the last area may be a bit confusing. Most of this information is pretty easy to understand. Aerial Ace is a physical Flying-type attack that will never miss the target, no matter the accuracy of the user or evasion of the target.
